Career Pathways is an extensive workforce development program used in the United States, Canada, and Latin America to support workers transitioning from educational learning to employment. In its most comprehensive form, Career Pathways identifies six career paths for workers. These paths have been developed based on research, planning, and assessment of workers’ preferences and abilities. The organization recommends that, in addition to a plan of action for each career path, a personal action plan should be developed as well.

Workers may choose to identify one of the career paths on the Career Paths Executive Summary. The overview provides a basic understanding of what the program entails and helps workers decide if the selected career path is the one for them. The detailed descriptions of the career paths help identify how a worker will reach his or her career goals.

Culinary School. Workers interested in becoming culinary school chefs should select a career path in the Culinary School portion of the program. To become a culinary school chef, the student must enroll in an approved program that provides training for aspiring chefs and meets certain requirements (e.g., licensure). Students may also transfer to a four-year institution to complete an Associates degree, Bachelors degree, or even a Masters degree in culinary arts.
